One of the most horrific moments in African American History that was hidden from school history books took place between May 31st through June 1st 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During the early 1900's The Greenwood Community or also known as Black Wall Street consisted of dentists, bankers, sophisticated lawyers, surgeons, hotels, barbershops, physicians, and other skilled professionals. The African American community owned homes, land, and several businesses. They paid each other for good & services and kept the circulation of money within the community. But some folks were jealous and had other plans.
What caused the Massacre?
It all started with an allegation with a white woman accusing a black man for assaulting her in an elevator. This allegation which was also proven false reached the headlines and this set off flames to the community. Greenwood's economic prosperity was another factor that led to the attacks on Black Wall Street. Over 300 people were killed and many were left homeless. Businesses and homes were destroyed.

"They were killing all the black people"
Viola Fletcher is one of the oldest living victim of the Tulsa race massacre and she recently testified along with Hughes Van Ellis. Viola was 7 years young when the attack occurred and 100 years later she's back to tell her side of the story. Here's what she had to say
"I’m a survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre. I’m here seeking justice, and I’m asking my country to acknowledge what happened in Tulsa in 1921. The night of the massacre, I was awakened by my family, my parents and five siblings were there. I was told we had to leave and that was it,” Fletcher said. “We lost everything that day. Our homes, our newspaper (The Tulsa Star), our theaters, our lives. Greenwood represented all the best of what was possible for Black people in America. This Congress must recognize us and our history.”
What should we do now?
Let's run it back and create another Black Wall Street within our families and influence our colleagues to do the same. Let's all learn & teach one another on how to increase credit scores, buy homes for passive income, let's love our brothers and sisters, let's be kind to each other, let's protect each other, and let's not harm one another. Let's invest in ourselves, the Stock Market, Cryptocurrency, Real Estate, education, our creative friends, and other assets such as art, NFT's or collectibles. Let's be better than ever...
