Because of the CDC eviction moratorium, approximately 2.2 million eviction filings were prevented since March of 2020 and more than 6 million people are still behind on rent. As of late July of 2021 Biden attempted to extend the eviction moratorium to protect families who are renting but congress denied the request. States such as New York and California will extend it throughout the summer and maybe beyond. Landlords and renters are both affected from these laws whether in a positive or negative way but July 31, 2021 is the last day.
LANDLORDS & RENTERS
Landlords across the country lost millions in monthly rent and from an investor's perspective they are ready for the evictions to begin. Landlords still have to pay the mortgage and evicting current renters will open doors for those who can actually afford it. For those who disagree, what if you own a property and you decided to rent it out tenants? For renters, these laws help those who lost their jobs due to the pandemic and we have others who take advantage to save more funds. Both parties should come to an agreement and see what works best for them.
